A burr is basically a raised edge or small piece of material that remains attached to a workpiece even after the modification process. It is an unwanted piece of material. It can be removed only with a deburring tool in a method known as ‘deburring’.
Burrs are mostly created after machining operations like drilling, grinding, turning, milling or engraving.
